Books that people put on a shelf without ever reading them, even though they think they eventually will, but mainly to give the impression of being well-read.

A friend is going over your books on the shelf.

- friend : " - Title of the book -, wow, is that a good book?"
- you : "I don't know, I have not read it yet."
- friend : "Yeah right ... shelfood!"
