Etymology and History:

The adaptation of the WWII trademark German soldier can be taken as an insult, just as the word "faggot," is taken as such by most in the homosexual community. However, it's quickly becoming a very open term, and not negative at all. The Nazi's were strong and powerful, though terrible and uncouth. In this context, the term is used only as a positive. It strictly means: "a person in the community who adamantly stands for gay rights, and expects and wants nothing more than respect and equality for everyong." Usually, this person tends to be a very flambouyant homosexual. It's not a necessity, however. Anyone could be a purple nazi.

Ex. "That guy over there is my idol!-- he's such a purple nazi."
