Nicholson is somewhat of a gimmickry writer as is evidenced by his novel "vox" a novel About a man who Carries on a sexual relationship with a phone sex operator in the pre internet early 90s. In some ways similar to spike jones more recent movie "her"where a guy falls for his os in a digital sense.

Nicholson Effect

The feeling of unspecified love when a person is outside their everyday living environment (City/Town/Village). Usually confused with sexual urges. Often leads to people cheating while away from their families. On the other hand it can bring romantic partners closer to each other. Or it can just manifest as a deeper appreciation for a different city.

It wasn't the Nicholson effect that conditioned me to fall in love with that person while on vacation. It was the person themselves.
