muizzu vun

A sarcastic term originating around 2012 in the Maldives, used to describe a situation, plan, or project that has gone terribly wrong due to poor planning, impractical design, or overconfidence in execution. Derived from Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, then-Housing Minister, now President, whose infamous urban and road planning projects were widely criticized for their dysfunctionality and lack of foresight.
The phrase became a go-to expression among Maldivians to mock any development or initiative that looked promising on paper but collapsed in reality—usually accompanied by flooding, traffic chaos, or sheer impracticality.
The road was widened, but it still floods!
