to change from one stereo type - usually the teacher's pet/honor student - to emo (normally a highschool freshman or an 8th grader); adding an emoticon - like and smiley :) or a wink ;) - to a text message, IM, etc.

Communicating with friends mostly with emoticons or smileys. By emoticating a person can create sentences and stories without words, or portray his mood and facial expressions. Emotication is usually used in informal communication among young people in social media, for example Whatsapp and Facebook.
