Let's talk about the word boom. First of all, the word boom is mainly used for a bomb or and explosion. This word is often not used in real life, but in cartoons or children's book. This could also be linked to the word "kaboom", as they mainly have the same meaning. Therefore boom may mean other things very rarely, but usually means a bomb going off, a gun shot, a volcano erupting, etc.
