Westwash 

To take a tradition (usually Eastern) with a unique culture behind it and replace it with its heavily commercialized, stereotypical western counterpart that is somehow “popular”.
Many Japanese weddings are so westwashed nowadays. They wear bland white “fairytale” dresses instead of the beautiful, unique kimonos they used to wear!
