Trenutly

Trenutly (adverb)

Definition: Right now; in the moment.

Origin: The word was coined when a Canadian-Serbian political pawn, while giving a media statement in English, mistakenly combined the Serbian word “trenutno” (meaning right now) with the English word “currently”—resulting in trenutly. Since it’s creation, the word has been trending on social media.

Pronunciation: Thre-noot-ly
1. Trenutly, the government is blasting sound cannons at students instead of listening to why they’re in the streets in the first place.
2. Trenutly, state-controlled media is working harder to discredit student protests than they ever have to report on government corruption.
3. Trenutly, officials are pretending that mass protests across Serbia are just a minor inconvenience rather than a sign of growing unrest.
4. Trenutly, while students block campuses demanding accountability, politicians are busy blocking each other from facing real consequences.
5. Trenutly, Serbian ministers are debating whether to blame “foreign influences,” “political opposition,” or “bad weather” for yet another wave of protests.
