The over usage and warping of the definition of a word or term, until it loses its meaning

*Posts actually decent dancing video
“Nice moves” “Huehuehue what a simp!”

Ex. “POV: you’re trying to hard to be famous”
*video proceeds to not include an actual POV shot
“Where was the POV?” “There wasn’t one. That’s the TikTok effect”

The art of ruining a perfectly good song by overusing it as a sound on tiktok.

A: “I used to really like this song, shame it was ruined by the tiktok effect.”

B: “I hate it when that happens.”

The TikTok effect is when a creator speeds up a song even thought it was fine the way it was. So if your song goes viral on TikTok, expect it to be sped up.

Me: “Why do they keep speeding up songs?” Friend: “Oh, that’s just The TikTok Effect”
