A Subwoofer is an audio device (a transducer) that converts an audio signal that has been filtered (by a lowpass filter) so that the signal does not damage the Subwoofer. Typically, the subwoofer is used to play the low end of any audio, in the 200-800 Hz range, though some may be more narrow, or broad in their spectrum.
A giant subwoofer in the car, is like a hammer to the head. COMPLETELY USELESS. Go ahead and do some ghetto blasting, but WTF dude? get a life. Listen to your music, don't harass others with it.

A technique used to find the perfect spot in your room for full-sounding bass.
This technique is created by Gene DellaSala, president and Founder/Owner of Audioholics (an online A/V magazine)
The technique involves placing the subwoofer in the spot where you usually sit when watching movies or listening to music, and turning on a fairly bass-heavy test track. Then, crawling around on the floor while listening to where the bass sounds the best. Switching spots with your subwoofer—it should sound about the same.

Term for a driver or passenger of a car/truck/&c who, while there is music on the stereo, stomps loudly or crisply on the floor, keeping the beat in the absence of an actual bass speaker.
