Jim Paschke coined the nickname based on Jennings explosive play and command of the team early on in the 2009-10 NBA season. The Swizzle Stick was in reference to Jennings' slight frame and his ability to motivate and "stir the drink" of the Milwaukee Bucks on-court play and momentum.
"The Swizzy" was an abbreviated, modification of 'The Swizzle Stick' that began appearing online in Milwaukee Bucks fan communities and related social media in November 2009.
