The exercise of self defense from an assailant in a conflict that was unecessarily raised, and predictably could have been entirely avoided. This is largely a consequence of the person exercising 'self defense' not/poorly assessing personal risks, a failure to practice conflict resolution skills, or by provoking the assailant.
John had practiced the Rittenhouse Defense by injuring the enraged female assailant after he kept hurling insults at her.
