RAKWAN is an acronym meaning "Rob and
Kill, War against Nobility", and is the name of a
gang/organization founded in
Salem, Massachusetts. Little is known about the group as there are no known leaders or officials. Members of the group are referred to as RAKWANI and often reference RAKWAN in their
music. Members of RAKWAN consider RAKWAN a movement promoting a war against the wealthy. RAKWAN sees acts of violence, theft, and vandalism as warfare against the
rich. Various things are used to represent the movement such as the colors white and black, letters “RW”, as well as the numbers “1823” in reference to how R is the 18th letter in the alphabet and W is the 23rd.
