The answer to any question that you don't know the answer to.
In many cases, it leaves the person in a state confused bewilderment when you answer with it.
A word used in place of "perhaps" whose only purpose is making the listener have to think about what was just said, and possibly throw the conversation in a completely different direction (because of its similarity to pap smear).
Joe: "Are we going to finish this job today?"
Chris: "Perhapsmear, it depends on how fast we work."
Joe: "...Dude..."
The true more devious form of saying maybe while having some class. It still makes you a douche bagif you don't confirm your answer. Ellipses add extra confusion just to mess around.
Fred: "Hey, wanna grab some drinks tonight?"
Bill: "Perhaps..."
Fred: "Is that a yes or no though?"
...
"Jonathan said to his young armor-bearer, "Come, let's go over to the outpost of those uncircumcised fellows. Perhaps the Lord will act in our behalf. Nothing can hinder the Lord from saving, whether by many or by few."
~ 1 Samuel 14:6 (NIV)
