A romanization of the Japanese word for “push” (推し). Among streaming communities, specifically Virtual Youtuber communities, it is used to refer to a streamer whom a person supports wholeheartedly, and in a manner greater than others within a particular industry or group. Reverence of said character can result in varying degrees of obsessiveness from occasional monetary donations to hoarding expensive merchandise

A: That is some really… interesting artwork you retweeted! I saw you had a pillow with that character on it, what anime is that?
B: That’s my oshi. He’s a wolf-boy mafia boss , and actually, he’s a VTuber from Holostars.

1. Japanese for “push”
2. The term used the in the VTuber community for the VTuber you support the most. Because it means “push”, the term is like the liver you push forward into more success. You can have multiple oshis, but your kami-oshi is your most prominent. Kami represents “god” more or less in Japanese, so think of it that way.
3. Term used in sumo wrestling for to push down

“Some of my oshis are Rin Penrose, Alban Knox, and Punkalopi, but my kami-oshi is Ike Eveland!”
