Meta Quest

A great VR headset with the most uncool name. Sounds like the name of some random educational software. Compare that to a modern badass name like Oculus Rift or Oculus Go. The words themselves are very ambiguous. Like am I on a meta quest or something?? Lol.
Me when I think of Oculus Rift: *cool, epic gamer vibes ensues*
Me when I think of Meta Quest: *cricket, cricket....* oh wait, I think I'm feeling something.... *educational software vibes ensues*

Meta Quest 3 128GB— Breakthrough Mixed Reality Headset — Powerful Performance

amazon.com uses a long title for the meta quest 3 128gb base model.
this results in stuff like this:
person: *searches meta quest 3 on amazon*
amazon: are you interested in the Meta Quest 3 128GB— Breakthrough Mixed Reality Headset — Powerful Performance?
person: why couldn't you just say "meta quest 3 128gb"? isnt that a little extra?

metaquestion

MEH-tuh-kwest-chun

A habit of speech and conversation whereby a questioner asks a very unspecific question of a questionee, or series of such questions, leading up to the actual question which the questioner would like the questionee to answer. A waste of conversational bandwidth, be it spoken or digital.
"Can I ask you a question?"

useful retorts:

"You just did."
"Yes, but only one, and you already used it up."
"No."

Metaquestion

Metaquestions are questions about other questions. Which are asked in response or leading up to other questions.

They are almost always dependent on the other question.
Can I ask you a question? *
- You just did.

And also:

Stop answering each question with another question.
- Why shouldn't I answer each question with another question? *

* This question is a metaquestion.

metaquette

Rules on when it is or isn't appropriate to comment on someone else's manners or behavior. In other words, rules of etiquette for discussion of rules of etiquette, or meta etiquette (metaquette).
Alice: Did you notice how Chad was being super-polite to Dana, but he barely even said hi to Eric?
Bob: Yes, but since Chad is standing right next to you, I'm going to have to question your metaquette skills.

flophouse

Any house/apartment/frat house/trailer/etc. which is used for individuals to crash (sleep, chill, hang out, lurk, etc.) for a period of time. In order to "crash", one must not actually live there (e.g. have their name on the lease, own said flophouse, etc.). Flophouses are typically used by college students, drug addicts, transients, vagrants, or other unsavory characters.

A flophouse may also be the home owned by the parents of a college student, who after being away at college, wishes to live as if he/she is still at college (e.g. staying out all night, returning just to crash at mom and dad's house, then leaving again), rather than conforming to the pre-college rules.
Example #1
Dude: (Talking to someone passed out face first on the floor of his college apartment) Hey man, who the hell are you? What do you think this is, a flophouse??

Bro: Sorry dude, I must have passed out for a minute.

Example #2
Mom: Where have you BEEN for the last three days? You come home just to sleep?? What do you think this is, a flophouse??!!

Son: What's your problem? I'm an adult now!
