The wasting away or atrophy of cognitive ability. Caused by excessive amount of over reporting and or sensationalism of news stories or events by the media.

The negativity and sensationalism of news stories has created high levels of Mediatrophy.

The Atrophy or wasting away of the human cognitive ability due to excessive amounts of media sensationalism of events or news stories.

I can’t watch the news anymore due to Mediatrophy.
