Hottopic: A store apptly named for what it is, "Hot Topic". As in they will sell anything in "Style" to underage angsty Suburban teens who want to be "Different".

Hottopic 

Hottopic is a poser-wannabe store for punks/goths who can actually afford hottopic. A store that sells hello kitty merchandise, Band tees and bright colored shirts, CD's, Zebra tights, Hair accessories, 90$ tripp pants, and so on. All of their supplies can lead you to having a bill of 500$, and you walk out with only 2 items.

Hottopic is not punk rock. Real punks didn't have to go to a store that already sells band tees, they had to go to concerts.

They shopped at thrift stores to buy clothes. They didn't go to a store that already sold ripped up jeans, and I'm pretty sure they didn't have to pay 70$. Punks came from low-income families and didn't have the money to buy expensive stuff.

So, there you have it. When you see a "punk" walk out of hottopic, you know why their there; To be a poser.

hottopic-ed 

A word, phrase, picture, symbol, definition, clothing, genre, subculture, etc that has been marketed by hot topic brand stores origianlly favoured by the people of certain subcultures, leading to over-use of the word, phrase, thing, idea, clique, etc so that anyone can think that they are of the subculture by buying that item. The item therefore becomes abused and is eventually abandoned by the original subculturists but still remains as a sterotypical symbol of the subculture, later being a source of quick mockery or use by posers.

"You laugh at me because I'm different; I laugh because you are all the same!"
"Dude, do you think that saying that makes you unique and special? that phrase has been so hottopic-ed that you aren't different at all, you're exactly the same as the 3 million other people who own that on a shirt, bumper sticker, mug, patch, hoodie, etc. you aren't different, you're exactly the same... you hypocrite."

Hot Topic

This is a store to which people can find t-shirts, sweaters, hats, basically all attire that may have a faviorte band or funny saying. I personally go there, and I do not believe that I am trying to rebel against anything. And if I was trying to, to what would I be, society in itself, you could say the same thing about Pacific sunwear, Ecko, or any clothing store, they could all be considered rebelling against something. But I just want a shirt with my faviorte band's name on it.

Let's go to Hot Topic, and not rebel against anything, but rather buy some clothing articles, like we would in any other clothing store.
