1. To snatch defeat from the jaws of victory
2. To lose when there is no possible way to do so, and to do it in a particularly spectacular manner

Expression used at the University of Washington to describe the manner in which the Washington State University loses (predominately) football games. Generally, the Cougars compile a healthy lead only to completely fuck it all up late in the game, especially in the Apple Cup. It's fucking sweet.

The 2002 Apple Cup was shit until WSU decided to coug it in the 4th. Then it was pretty alright.
