A website that is supposed to help high school students and their parents with getting into university and how to manage courses while there, but is flooded with insecure people who act elitist and belittle others based on their mediocre GPA, SAT/ACT scores, etc. If you have a 3.3 GPA, you are seen as a loser similar to someone begging for money on the freeway overpass. Most believe if it's a tactic to get people to become hopeless so they don't apply to the Ivy League and have them get an easier chance of getting in.
User: I have a 3.3 GPA, 1250 SAT and 30 ACT, along with being the president of the Hockey club, 5 AP courses taken with 3 4's and 2 5's, and have over 100 hours of community service. What are my chances of getting into San Diego State?

A website where try hards can brag about their stats and over exaggerate them. Also a place where butthurt people that didn't get into their dream school can bash on other people and say that they have no chance of getting into said school.

The ultimate circle-jerk for insecure high schoolers and/or obsessive parents who want to live vicariously through their children. Arrogance, exaggeration, and downright creepiness from parents and students alike can be found in this psuedo-intellectual cesspool. Many normal and average students get sucked into viewing their forums through the "chance me" section of the website to compare themselves to these egomaniacs and their parents. Truly the most toxic place on the internet, avoid at all costs for your own mental health.
A Typical College Confidential Parent: MY SON WITH A 7.4 UW GPA, 1700 SAT, 50 MILLION LEADERSHIP POSITIONS ON THE NATIONAL LEVEL, 25 HIGH PROFILE INTERNSHIPS, AND A RECOMMENDATION FROM JESUS CHRIST HIMSELF GOT WAITLISTED FROM OUR STATE SCHOOL. HOW DID THIS HAPPEN??????? (beside obvious exaggeration in stats, this was a real forum I saw.)

A great movie directed by Curtis Hanson about crime and corruption in the city of L.A. during the 50's from the perspective of cops. The perfect cast includes Guy Pearce, Russel Crowe, Kevin Spacey, James Cromwell, Kate Basinger, and Danny De Vito. The overrated Titanic robbed it of Oscar glory.

College Confidential can be very intimidating. Students who post there often have impressive accolades in hopes of gaining entrance to elite schools. Students who are subpar and below have been targeted for some ridicule, but in all fairness, just understand the bully is probably bullied himself by superficial guys at his school.
The real purpose of College Confidential is not to flaunt accomplishments but to prepare students for college expectations. It's a fairly lenient place and overconfident members are looked down upon. However, make sure you are able to handle students discussing high scores and great accomplishments--this is NOT a website for those who are easily jealous and insecure. If you're someone who will likely decide to live secluded life as a homemaker after seeing how successful these students are, do not risk your last thread of confidence.
