In space, no one can hear you scream.

This factual statement is a metaphor, which implies being alone, in danger, and in a seemingly hopeless situation.

It originally entered pop culture as the tag line on the Movie Poster for James Cameron's Alien (1979).

This statement is an oversimplification of fact. The vacuum of outer space transmits sound poorly; however, to scream, you need air, and thus others on your spaceship would hear you scream were you able.

This expression emphasizes the terrifying truth that we are truly alone when travelling through outer space. No help is nearby. You and your crew have to be self-reliant.

For its time, Alien was exceptionally scary and realistic, thus the expression is burnt in the American psychic with a sizable connotation of fear, hence the words are memorable to this day.

"Whatever you do, don't get stranded in outer space. Remember, in space, no one can hear you scream."

Inhale Screaming

I style of "screaming" that involves sucking in air while putting pressure on your throat to make noise to sound like you're screaming. It is very rarely used by musicians because it will ruin your voice in a matter of months, and takes no talent whatsoever. It is basically fake screaming, and sounds horrible too.

Guy 1: Hey man, I learned how to screamo yesterday!

Guy 2: (In disbelief) Oh really? Let's hear it

(Guy 1 starts his inhale "screaming." Guy 2 commits suicide shortly afterward because inhale screaming takes no talent)

Screaming Uranium

A misinformed unbelievable occurance or detail in a film that is so removed from fact that it literally shocks the viewer into suspended belief.

Taken from the film "Kiss Me Deadly" of the 1950's featuring a box of Uranium, that screamed. Showing that the populous of the time obviously had no grasp on this new amazing (and obviously harrowing) nuclear advancement.

-Bull****! How did Nicholas Cage just inject himself in the heart with something and live through the nerve agent?

Descriptive noun for an email written all in capital letters (i.e., full-blown capslock) with optional poor grammar; may or may not actually be emotionally charged, but regardless one feels affronted when presented with such an email. A departing signature is also optional.

1. Did you see that screamail I got from my TA? I thought she was pissed off, but I guess she just doesn't know to turn off capslock.

e.g. HI U CAN JUS PUT THE DISADVANTAGES & ADVANTAGES NO NEED TO PUT ERROR FOR STANDARDS ONLY THE UNKNOWN. KTHXBYE.
