Get the emomug. a pathetic, sad "hip" millenium-brat word a watered down word of what used to in the 80s-90s be simply called a goth.
a way of making being "emotional" and "poetic" seem outrageously trendy also one who frequently goes to hot topic to buy ridiculously expensive clothes--and who wears shirts with bands and pop culture references they know nothing about--a usually upper middle class kid who wants everyone to know what a "misfit" they are
an emo is the equivalent of a yippie--which was back in the day a poser hippie
a multicolored sheep who thinks they go against the grain

Get the emomug. Bands like My Chemical Romance, Fall Out Boy and Panic! At The Disco are not emo and emos need to know this. They're pretty good bands, I listen to them all the time...BUT they're not emo. I hate to have to give in to conformity and say that I am emo but personally, if I were being told about this kind of stuff by someone who wasn't emo, and didn't have the experience of participation, then I would find it hard to believe them. I don't cut, I don't cry all the time, I don't sit around feeling sorry for myself. I normally go out whenever I can and get totally drunk and enjoy myself. Emo is not about following the apparent stereotypes of the mainstream audience, it's about expressing the way you look and act through the emotive hardcore music scene. Emotive hardcore bands include:

American Football (Yes, it's a band, too)

Get the emosmug. someone who is different and doesn't give a f**k and they want to express it to everyone, they like screamo bands, which can now be infused with rap (examples of this on youtube) they also like real hardcore rock, they dress in bright colours to stand out, they want to show a darker side of themselves by colouring their hair with a black base and wearing black band t-shirts of more hardcore rock groups, they are pretty nice people once you get to know them, usually if someone is an emo society has driven them to it.
Emo girl's usually look innocent but threatening, and Emo guys usually look stick thin and depressed.
Most emo's are usually bi or bi-curious.
