British pejorative slang for rowdy, antisocial, low class youngsters.
Chav-males/Chavettes-females
Chavs are heavily influenced by antisocial punk and gangster culture. Lewd and violent behavior, name brand or imitation sportswear, flashy jewelry, and a speech comprising British, American, and Jamaican slang are stereotypical trappings of a Chav.
Take one antisocial British youth, add punk American gangsta, add a dash of trashy street fighter - mix well and you have a Chav.

You know that dude on the corner with the sports jersey and bling, the Chav? He was talking shit to a cop and got arrested.
That’s what happens when you’re dealing with Chavs/Chavettes

Someone who walks around in Chav gear like tracksuits/baseball caps etc. trying to look and sound like a chav when in fact they're not: They probably get good grades in school and wouldn't or can't harm a fly. They do it to either get attention (so people will look at them and say things like "he's such a chav!"), to try to be different and stand out, or to stop people from making fun of them or beating them up because they think he's hard.

Basically, people who hate chavs and want to form a social club about it. The irony is they rightfully accuse chavs of being dumb, brutish, sheeple assholes but in doing so they themselves do the exact same thing.
I'm not anti-chav, I'm anti-stupid. There is a difference.

A term largely used in the Rep. of Ireland to refer to a young member of the working class.
"Sham" is the Irish term for the British term "chav".
A sham is characterised by attire such as tracksuits (the whiter the better), baseball caps on very back of head, hooded jumpers (with hood worn on head), tops with horizontal stripes, Ben Sherman & Burberry articles, tight haircuts, plenty of big jewellery (especially gold), excessive rings on fingers, tatoos on hands, lack of intelligence, unemployment, incomprehendable accents, drug/alcohol abuse, antisocial behaviour, casual violence, incest, rape, petty theft and general crime.
"Sham / Chav culture" is growing quickly in the UK / IRL.
Term used by shams to refer to one another, similar to the way the token young black male calls others "nigga".
Basically the scum of the scum.

"Lock your door, chief. There are shams hanging around"
"Man, you look a right sham chav with that cap on your head"
