Drinking the kool-aid

A figure of speech that means to buy into the ideas or beliefs that someone else is selling, be it a company or a church. It strongly suggests that the ideas are nonsense and possibly dangerous. The phrase is a reference to the Jonestown massacre in which the cult leader Jim Jones led his followers to commit mass-suicide by drinking a poisoned fruit drink similar to Kool-Aid.

"You've been at that company too long and they treat you like crap. It's time to stop drinking the kool-aid."

"He's been volunteering for that political campaign and it's all he talks about. Half of it is BS ... I wish he'd stop drinking the kool-aid."

Hearing Aid

Derogatory term for a Bluetooth earpiece worn by anyone over 40 years old in the sad belief that it makes them look cool. Seen from the opposite side, it makes them look like an old person suffering from semile dementia and talking to themselves.

Middle-aged woman apparently talking to herself in park.
Guy: "What's up with grandma over there?"
Girl: "She's on her hearing aid again to her daughter."

kool-aid-man

A verb meaning the act or process of entering a room by throwing yourself through a door with force similar to the force used by the Kool Aid Man in Kool-Aid commercials. The Kool Aid Man typically busted through doors or walls and said "Ohh yeah", but when Kool-Aid-Manning in through a door you've the option of also saying "What the fuck are you kids drinking?"

Mystery Person #1: Dude, Nathan was in bed and his door was closed, so I kool-aid-manned it through and now his door is torn up. He's pretty pissed.
Mystery Person #2: Yeah, he's got $3,000. He can fix it.
