An informal system of government whereby mob rule reigns, with the most charismatic members of the mob rising to rulers. Tribal and gang-like in their nature, incentives to conform include ostracizing, bullying and peer pressure among others.
Melissa was the high-priestess of her clique, managing it like comedic improv, imposing it's cardinal rule: never divert the flow of your partners; always go with the flow. In this way her clique's social theocracy embraced the cult of charismatic conformity.

Somebody who might get confused with the "social butterfly." But they don't acknowledge awkwardness at all.
Somebody with an over-developed sense of laughing at themselves.

That guy is such a social rhinoceros! No matter how many sexual innuendos I made about his mother, he just kept taking it to the next level.

A social ambush occurs when somebody you least want and/or least expect to see, ends up standing face to face with you in a social setting like a restaurant, bar, gallery, houseparty, etc.. You are more likely to feel surprised or anxious at first, then mad. Sometimes mutual associates can be aware the meeting will take place but for whatever reason, they do not bother to warn you. The best way to deal with the situation is to LEAVE. No need to say something you might regret later.
I went out with Jenny to that new restaurant last night and Tina just popped up. I felt like it was a social ambush. I walked out five minutes later.
