Shooting blanks

Sending a blank text message by mistake, or due to a phone malfunction of some kind.
Man 1: "Damn it, I keep shooting blanks! I can't wait for my plan to expire, so that I can get a new phone with a WORKING keyboard."

Man 2: "Man, I wish I had that problem with my girlfriend, but I wouldn't re-up until I'm at least 30."

Man 1: "I take it that you started praying for false positives?"

blink 182

A very misunderstood band. Most punks refer to them as "too poppy" or "g@y @$$ sh!T sellouts". While in reality, Blink 182 started out as a very punk band. They were inspired by bands such as NOFX the Descendents, The Vandals, and Bad Religion, covering a NOFX song in their very first EP (flyswatter), and even inviting Bad Religion to open for them, which Bad Religion accepted. The vandals also produced Blink 182's first full length album, Buddha. Blink 182 separates itself from other punk pop bands, and has true respect for their punk roots. (Singer Tom Delonge collaborated with Rancid's Tim Armstrong in a side project). While Blink's music may be more popular or poppy than other punk bands, they still have the spirit and punk background that lets us label them as PUNK-Pop. A little too poppy to be called punk, but a type of punk nonetheless. A band that has played with Bad Religion, covered NOFX, collaborated with Rancid, and worked with the vandals can't be too far from punk now, can it?
Blink 182 are more punk than you think.

billy blanks

A man whose created many work out videos including: Taebo, Boot Camp, and The Billy Blanks Workout Guide for Men Who Have an Extremely Small Penises. He thinks he's really cool cause he used to have a block cut. He is challenged often by fitness celebrity John Basedow who combats Billy by rubbing his abs. In all Billy Blanks is a big faggot and his love for fitness is only exceeded by his love for another man's cock in his ass.

blink-182

Band that started out with good musical intentions and potty mouth jokes. Went over well with suburban pre-teens. Some songs have depth while others lack it. They are a band that has been labeled by people who dislike their music as punk-rock wannabes and their fans call them whatever they want to. Whether you hate them or you like them, you can't change the fact that they put out albums and people bought them. I personally don't find them to be punk-rock and think they are more alternative. They are not the greatest musicians(except for Travis Barker the drummer) or the best lyricists. Their "indefinite hiatus" is acceptable since they have matured and gave their music a good run.
blink-182 tried hard to pull off a punk-rock act, but grew up and stopped caring how people perceived them..

Blink-182

A band that everyone spends time arguing about,.. constantly.
Truth is, Blink-182 is just a fun band. People run around saying that their songs are stupid, and that they ruined "punk" music. However, as far as i know, blink-182 has never called themselves "Punk" or anything in that range.
Also: "Punk is in the eye of the beholder" keep that in mind.
Personally, *I* wouldn't describe them as punk (early stuff, maybe), either way, it's still great.
Their music embodies the childhoods of children all over america, and parts of Peru.
Although their early music may be called "easy" or "skilless" alot of their songs actually have require a large pool of musical ability. Carousel (an early song, has a killer bass part that takes some definite skill) as well as 'Man overboard'- a later song.
Any song from the "enema of state" album onward has a definitly wicked drumming part.
As far as guitar goes, it might not be complicated, but it really does MAKE the song. Which is all that matters. And that's what makes Tom a GREAT guitarist.
They where almost sued for using the name "Blink" (that they had started under) So they where forced to change their name,
they chose:
Blink *182*.

No one really knows why they chose Blink-182,
but a common theory is because
that is the number of times Tony Montana said "FUCK!" in the movie Scarface.
Pre-Pubescent hater: "God i hate Blink-182"
Dude: "No you dont."
Pre-Pubescent hater: "Your right... who could hate Blink-182?"

Douche bag: "Your still learning that!??! I learned to play all of Blink-182's songs on guitar in like, five minutes"
Bro: "Great. Now try learning them on drums."
