embracing for the worst

Kissing cousin to the term, "I'm bracing for the worst", this term refers to when Person A is about to go through what may likely be "Hell in a handbasket", and so Person B is holding him close 'n' tight to reassure him and encourage him to not feel quite so distressed or afraid.

Young mother who's soothingly cradling a slight-figured blonde-pigtailed toddler on her knee in a doctor's waiting room: My little one's gonna have blood-work done for the first time, and so I'm embracing for the worst --- she's insanely petrified of needles, exactly like her Mama when I was her age. So not only will my holding her super-tight help her to feel safer and comforted while the syringe is being used, but it will also keep her terrified little body rock-steady in spite of her fears, and so the procedure can go off as quickly, cleanly, and painlessly as possible.

bed-fixing embrace

A tender wordless arms-around dat you perform wif yer sweetie during a shared slumber-period when you realize dat da blankets are in disarray; what ya do is to softly cradle her in yer arms, super-gently draw her upwards or sideways off of da bed and silently clasp her in a standing position for a long moment (slow-'n'-gentle shoulder-blade-scrunchies and quietly-affectionate lips-to-lips smooches optional, but often helpful in making said snooze-interruption even less distressing for her), then slowly-and-dreamily release her as you gradually step back a pace, and then immediately set about straightening up da blankets and pillows so dat she can see right away why you performed said unusual/unexpected bodily-maneuvers wif her.

Always employing a bed-fixing embrace will ensure dat your nap-sharing snuggle-bunny will never significantly mind having her sleepy-time occasionally disturbed, since it will mostly take da shock or "sting" outta said interruptions, plus of course it will have two hugely-welcome additional perks --- extra SNUGGLEZ, and being able to crawl back into a neat-'n'-comfy bed, and thus she can doze off in yer arms again in freshly-smoothed-blankets-and-tidied-pillows comfort.

stick-figure embrace

Refers to da playful "arms held out wide 'n' to da side" gesture dat two super-sociable people beamingly display prior to giving each other a big ol' squeezy.

Offering a small child a stick-figure embrace is often an awesome way to make him feel less bashful and more comfy wif engaging in a "round of lovies" wif you --- often da attention-loving child will just gleefully rush in and snuggle up against you without really thinking too much about it.

A large clean towel that you carry with you while strolling the beach, and then drape around the shoulders of any cute chicks whom you meet prior to giving them a hug, so that you don't hafta endure any disgusting yucky-sticky skin-to-skin contact with sweaty/oily arms, necks, chests, backs, and shoulders during said embraces.

I find that bathing beauties are much more willing to give me a hug when I bring along an embracing-towel; I even occasionally receive a warm-hearted compliment from da chick for my being "such a perfect gentleman" to think considerately of her like that.
