The name "Palestine" was attributed to the Land of Israel on both banks of the Jordan River as a region not a country and remained in use in European languages even in modern times. After the end of the British Mandate and the establishment of the State of Israel, due to the indistinguishability in Arabic and foreign languages between the name "Palestina" and its Arabic version, "Palestine", the concept in these languages became dual:

It is used as the historical name of the entire country (Israel) but is also identified today with the national Arab entity that formed in it in the 20th century.

The region, When the Roman Empire conquered Judea and colonized it they gave it a colonial name, Palestine, in order to disconnect the Jews from their land. They also exiled Jews away(that’s why you have Jews all over the world they are descends of those Jews) while those who stayed were inferior to them.

After the Roman Empire many other empires have colonized the land, only in the time of the Ottoman Empire colonization, Arabs begin entering the land in order to find work. Mind you that Jews were still living there.

It was still called Palestine ever since the Roman Empire changed it)

Palestine is Judea, the Roman name for ‘Land of the Jews’ when the Roman Emperor Hadrian re-named this land as Palestina in 135 CE. Since then, it was never an Islamic State. ‘In the 2nd century CE, the Romans crushed the Jewish revolt and Judea was renamed Palestina.
“Do you know what was the name of Judea after the Roman Empire conquered it and occupied it?”

“Oh yeah, it’s Palestine, it was a region and it was vastly called Syria-Palestina”

Palestine (formerly known as Palaestina) is a region in the Middle East that was renamed by the Roman Empire in 135 CE in an effort to minimise the Jewish identity of the land after a Jewish uprising.

The land that Palestine currently resides on was originally known as the Kingdom of Israel (ruled by Kings such as Saul and David) -- and it was only until 1948 when Israel regained its rightful place back on the world map like it had been thousands of years ago.

Unfortunately, the return of Israel caused conflict as the region as the nationals known as 'Palestinians' (whos ethnicity is primarily Egyptian and Jordanian) had grown comfortable living off of the land that the Romans had stolen from the Jewish population.

As it was announced by the United Nations that Israel was about to make a return to the region by a 'two state solution' (half Israel, half Palestine) so that the Jewish people could return to their religious homeland and the palestinian nationals could live side by side -- the Arab countries decided that warfare was the answer.

Since 1947, there has been non-stop war and conflict in the region until now.
Person One: "Have you heard of that land Palestine ?"
Person Two: "I heard that it was named originally as Palaestina."
Person One: "It was called Palaestina by the Romans after a conquest."

Palestine is a modification of the name given to the land of Judea by the Romans in 70 CE, which was "Palistina"
It was occupied by various foreign empires including the Ottoman and British Empires, until 1947's UN resolution 181 which offered states relatively of equal size to the native Arabs and Jews. When the Arabs said no, the Jewish faction took their half and immediately were attacked by their neighbors. They won. Israel attacked again in 1967 in preemptive strike. They won. They were attacked in 1973. They won. Then the Arabs were offered a state in the Oslo Accords. They said no. In 2005, Israel forcibly evicted it's citizens from Gaza, and when Palestinian elections were held, Hamas won and brutally murdered its political opponents. Here we are today.
"Palestine" Is a modification to the name of a Roman province from the early common era.
It is also a place in Texas.
