nu-metal

The vast majority of bad music you hear on the radio. Consists of heavy guitars (sometimes too heavy causing different octaves to become indistinguishable), and a usually a screaming/rapping lead singer. A good population of today's shittiest bands are lumped into the nu-metal category, such as Limp Bizkit, Linkin Park, Nickelback, Puddle of Mudd, 3 Doors Down and Slipknot. Currently there are only two good nu-Metal bands in existence, System of a Down (though most would not call them nu-metal simply because it's become more of a stigma than a genre) and Ill Nino, and most would agree with these choices.
Nu-metal suffers from a lack of originality... and often talent.

"There’s so much mass pop bullshit, even in the rock genre—I’m sorry, but I think that shit is just so fucking farce. I listen to the radio, all the nü-metal crap, and I don’t want to drop names, but like Drowning Pool’s ‘Let the Bodies Hit the Floor,’ to destructure that song, there’s nothing there!” -Quinn Allman
any wannabe metal bands that can't quite fit hardcore, thrash, etc.

nu-metal

is metal that evolved off mixing with different technics, hardly uses any guitar solos, the vocals are usually screaming or whining, and most of it sucks. You are better of listening to real metal such as Black Sabbath, Megadeth, Ozzy Osbourne, Judas Priest and other Real Metal than this Nu-metal shit.
Linkin Park, Limp Biskit, Slipknot, Korn, Mudvayne, System of a Down(the only good Nu-Metal band)

nu-metal

A modern version of metal music, this genre includes bands such as KoRn, Slipknot, System of a Down, Limp Bizkit, Tool, iLL NiNo, Disturbed, Godsmack, Staind and a lot of others that are just too shitty to even mention. Like any genre of music, nu-metal has its good and bad (except for emo, it's all bad). However, nu-metal is almost always violently attacked by Metal Snobs who think 80's metal is the be-all-end-all of music.

While I am a huge fan of Metallica, Megadeth, and Black Sabbath, I believe that there are some really good nu-metal bands, and the people who constantly rip on nu-metal are fuckups, losers who listen to punk/emo/indie rock and stoners in their mid forties. Get it through your heads, death metal and black metal fucking suck. Go rape some school girls or pretend you're "dark" and "evil" because you like listening to some Scandinavian fag scream about the devil. Death/black metal fans love to say nu-metal gives metal a bad name, but it's really the death-head morons that rave about murder, human sacrifice, killing babies and Satan who are responsible for that.

The truth is, in many cases, many young people who start out listening to nu-metal are later introduced to old school metal; a lot of metal fans enjoy both because they appreciate variation. You want to bash nu-metal? Target losers like Linkin Park and Limp Bizkit.
Good nu-metal: KoRn, SOAD, Disturbed, iLL NiNo, Atreyu, FLAW

Bad nu-metal: Linkin Park, Limp Bizkit, Staind, Puddle of Mudd... those not mentioned are just average or mediocre.

Nu-Metal

Nu-Metal (also called neo-metal, aggro-rock) is a subgenre of heavy metal. It evolved from alternative metal and eventually became it's own subgenre in the mid to late 90s. It includes many artists such as Korn, Slipknot and Disturbed in their first work, The Sickness (although, David Draiman has stated in an interview he felt it sounded more like reggae metal, similar to Skindred.) and lesser known bands such as Coal Chamber, Flaw and Sevendust. The genre itself receives unwarranted and unneeded bashing and criticism from say, thrashers and brutal death metalers, and then again from whiny teen fags that listen to one direction or whatever. They seem to forget that these artists were pioneers that came up with a new musical genre. What have your artists done? Recreated something done how many times? Nu-Metal is an excellent example of vocal and instrumental talent (excluding fred durst. He has no perceivable talent of which to speak, coming from a true nu-metal fan.) Its quite fun to listen to and it doesn't deserve the bashing and wrinkling of noses whenever its name is mentioned. I can guarantee that when you were you an angsty teen, you had a korn poster in your bedroom, or a copy of the slipknot debut in your room. The whole musical world respect Korn For ushering in a completely new genre, me personally, I think that that's worth something.
Gary: Did you listen to the korn self titled?
Sean: Yeah! I was headbangin in my sleep! Perfect example of nu-metal gone right!
Gary: don't listen to limp bizkit, they'll turn you right off of it. fred fuckin durst...
Sean: what a fuckin douchebag..

nu-metal

Music invented by crack-snorting wheeler-dealers and bored kids from the suburbs with no musical taste.
Usually involes too many turntables and not a lot of talent.
Also much whining and poserish head-banging is necessary.
God I hate Korn. They're nothing but a bunch of eyeliner-wearing, talentless nu-metal fucks.
