snake in the couch

An effective and often used method to drastically shorten the stay of unwanted houseguests.

My in-laws were coming to stay for a week so I picked up a terrarium and a large, non-venomous snake at House of Reptiles and released it into the couch in the front room which also happened to be their fold-out guest bed and as they walked through the door, my five-year-old son yelled out, “snake in the couch!”

clutching at straws

Out of desparation, the act of reaching or stretching for a solution, no matter how irrational or inconsequential. Literally - a drowning person who, unable to find any substantial floatation immediately at had, attempts to save himself from certain death by grabbing hold of a few stray pieces of straw floating on the water within arm's length.

The Senator from Florida, caught red-handed sending lewd and lascivious text messages to underage male pages, was clutching at straws for an alibi and escape. Alcoholism? Resignation?

COUCH'D

To be completly worthless on a couch, bed, floor ect; unable to move ; drained of energy or effectiveness; extremely tired; completely exhausted due to the consumption/smoking of marijuana.
Mostly caused by the excessive use of fatty blunts, bong rips, fatty Joints ect.
