Get the Run tha Amug. Run DMC was one of the most influential rap groups ever. It was extremely popular in the 1980s, and it consisted of emcees Run (Joseph Simmons), DMC (Darryl McDaniels), and the late deejay Jam Master Jay (Jason Mizell). Its genre is old-school rap (rap performed between 1979 and 1993), but the band has also performed rock songs, such as the remix of Aerosmith's "Run This Way." Alas, Jam was brutally murdered back in 2002.
