Unless someone was having the police press people, why would they know what time the police back off at? Jobs prevent most people from having the luxury of staying up until dawn on a regular basis, and learning it from experience.

If someone wasn't having the police press people they identified as "innocent" bystanders, why would anybody know what time the police usually back off at? It's not the kind of thing most people learn from experience, as jobs make it hard for most people to have the luxury of staying up until dawn on a regular basis.

To press someone it means you like someone and you're doing everything you can to get that person's attention and to get into relationship with that person.

Press! Doing too much. Overly excited. It’s simple. First things first...it’s DC’s lingo (one of our words). Nobody in DC really adds the “ED” it’s just press!

To go off on someone and scream in their face. Most of the time push them into a corner or surround them too.
Ben to Friend: I’m gonna go press Riley
Ben: So you think it’s f*cking okay to do that?!
Riley: I didn’t do shit I swear
