You and your best friend living together since you can’t get any hoes and you both sleep in separate rooms and you both have California King beds, but then sometimes you go in each other's beds and snuggle but then when you're in your different room, you use your rose toys and you know, you just feel connected by the vibration of the rose toy telepathically to your best friend because you know you're mentally connected to her. Basically a platonic marriage to your female friend.

WRONG! Wrong you fucking dork!

Hym "Marriage relates directly to your finances AND your ability to do things like visit your significant other in the hospital (Because you need to be RELATED which is what makes it incest and is why gay marriage is seen as a necessary right). There's also an element of public perception then comes into play. You see business owner-types talking about how they are more trusting of married people. It isn't the marriage as an institution as much as it is the peripheral elements that make marriage almost necessary. You also have Jordan Peterson trying to convince people that YOU AREN'T SANE IF YOU DON'T DO IT (Get marriage). So no. There's no duplicity there. There's an element of cultural and economic enforcement that could be removed.
