Governmedia

That certain recursive entity resulting from the corruption and collusion that merges government agencies and media entities into a single, self-sustaining, propaganda machine.

A Governmedia purports to be two separate, law-abiding entities when it is, in reality, a single lawless, two-faced beast.

The first face is the "trusted" news anchor face that leverages its perceived neutrality and credibility to persuade and mislead the general public into believing the other face: the officially authorized government liar face that consorts with the first face because it spent all of its own credibility on scandals, deceptions, deceit and duplicity.

Governmedia's effectively demonize national undesirables, foreign nations and their leaders, generate wealth for their own nation's elite and gradually morph democracies into fascist regimes.

If you didn't already know, the confirmation that the US is ruled by a Governmedia came when Tony Snow "left" Fox News and became the White House press secretary.

velvet glove

Using or putting on the "velvet glove" suggests the use of gentle but effective persuasion. The glove is the depiction of the proverbial hand that indicates manipulation or active influence to a desired outcome; it being made of velvet encourages the perception of subtlety and deftness of such influence.

The full definition is opposed to the threatening coercion connotated by the opposite but more well known term "iron fist".

Hitler ran the Nazi machine with an iron fist, whereas leaders of today, in the interest of the press, handle almost all public matters with the velvet glove.

Student Government

A group where your expected to actually make changes in the school and organize community enriching events even though you know you have absolutely 0 POWER and have to attend dumb meetings about things that won't come true. Ideas range in these meetings from napkin sells to 5k runs that have been in development for over a year. Your lucky to know half your members and you will continually struggle to go to meetings and beg your friends to sign you in even though they aren't going either. So I guess the only people who survive stugo are the hardcore stugoers.
