A legal procedure for retroactively declaring unclehood null and void. Commonly used to avoid the potential expense, responsibilities and burdens associated with being an uncle. The result of the motion is that the child that was once formerly your niece or nephew becomes a legal non-relative. The statute varies by state, but the completed, signed and witnessed documents must be submitted to the appropriate governing body usually between 48 and 72 hours from the birth of the child in question.
