Content Vulture

An account with many followers that steals original content and passes it off as their own, often for the sole purpose of monetary gain. Content Vultures gain a following by reposting content that has already become popular.

This type of account can be found on any site but is most successful on sites like twitter and instagram, where viewers often share posts without checking the source.

Synonym: reposter

Content ID

Bullcrap system that Audible Magic developed for YouTube to use on its site. The goal of Content ID is to prevent piracy. Instead, it limits the user by automatically treating them as a criminal, even when said copyrighted material is being used under fair use.

The extent of Content ID can do is up to the copyright holder. Viacom was one of the first companies to use Content ID after they sued YouTube for mass piracy. One of the methods is blocking reuploads of their material, which is usually done by major film studios and music labels. Other times, it's used to leech money off a YouTuber. One of the biggest reasons why it's hated is preventing users from monetizing videos. The average wait time to remove a Content ID claim can range from within 24 hours to an upward 90 days, with the longest being in the appeal and counter-notification processes.
Nearly 10,000 companies use Content ID. A majority of them are on behalf of industry giants who know nothing about Fair Use.

Content Guidelines

Urban Dictionary's Guidelines:

Write for a large audience. New definitions are approved by the Urban Dictionary community, so use words, names, and examples that other people will understand and recognize.

Share definitions that are real and relevant. Inside jokes and made-up words are likely to be rejected. Share things that you’ve heard elsewhere or you regularly use in conversation.

Don't post personal information. Keep personal information like addresses, emails, and phone numbers out of Urban Dictionary. Do not include the last names of non-celebrities.

Don’t post hate speech. We have a zero tolerance policy for definitions that include hate speech, bullying, or statements meant to discriminate or incite violence against others.

Ask yourself: “Will I still want this published on the internet tomorrow?” We know that many definitions are added by friends and in the spur of the moment. Sure, the internet moves fast, but make sure you’re adding something that feels true and important enough to share publicly and document forever.
Man, did I get busted for violating Urban Dictionary's Content Guidelines yesterday! So sick!
