Acquaintance

An Acquaintance is someone who you see around and are definitely involved with, but you don't like them enough to call them a friend. Hugging them would be extremely awkward, and if you plan on hanging out with them bringing one of your actual friends with you is a must so things don't get boring, awkward, or silent.

Person 1: You know each other? How long have you been friends for?
Person 2: Oh no dude we're just acquaintances.
Person 1: You aren't friends?
Person 2: Nah man we don't hang out like that.

A Facebook friend that you do not know, and only added them because of mutual friends. Usually done to beef up one's profile.
