A rectangular device, most commonly a smartphone or an iPad, that is given to young children to keep them occupied so they don't annoy their parents while they drink.

"Come down to the pub and have a few beers?"
"Nah I can't, I'm looking after the young fella."

Unintentional Babysitter

An American who stands in line at an amusement park and has their personal space invaded by foreign children that are standing behind them. The children usually do not speak English and are unable to keep their hands to themselves.

Guy: "Dude, why is that kid's face all up in your ass?"
Other guy: "I have no idea. I feel like an unintentional babysitter."

When you're the person who's sitting in back with another person or persons you don't know too well or just met, and you have to entertain /talk to them. #wishiwasinthepassengerseatcuzthisisawkward

(n) The person who "babysits" their friends or colleagues in a group context. The social babysitter moderates awkward or antisocial behavior and tries to close long spans of silence with humor, engaging comments, and enthusiasm. Social babysitting can be tiring or a source of stress.

As the social babysitter, it frustrates me to decide where to eat with my friends for dinner. None of them have any opinion on where to eat and just say "I don't know.:"
