You have embraced social media, and are enthusiastically integrating it into your work and personal life. Suddenly you find yourself friended and followed by someone you are unable to comfortably deny. You become a Social Media Hostage when one of these unwanted friends/followers turns into a Facebook Stalker or full-blown Social Media Stalker.
Ann: He friended me on Facebook and followed me on Twitter...and I felt I had to accept. Now he's annoying as hell, and I can't comfortably unfriend or block him.
Amy: I had that happen with a manager at work. I became a Social Media Hostage, and there was nothing I could do about it.

When the parent uses social media to portray them self as a stand up parent. Posting pictures, videos, things they bought to get a stamp of approval from those watching. When really they are spiteful, vindictive and mad and use the kids as pawns to get back at the other parent when not on social media. Not caring how their hurting the kids in the process. All cause they wanna show the world how.much of a "good" parent they "are"

Social media parent: Posting pictures of your kids saying "this is what it's all about yall", when off social media you were trying to keep them separated to pay the other parent back.

Posting frequently in short periods of time to your twitter, facebook, tumblr, etc.
Girl 1: "Did you see the 12 posts from Jack in the last five minutes on his facebook?!?!"
Girl 2: "Yeah I think he just had a Social Media Seizure"

When a father is only in their child's life on social media and not in the real world. Posting pictures of his kids that his baby mama had to send to him because he never sees them.
Oh look at Buck being a social media dad, posting pictures of his kids that Keisha already posted a week ago
Buck: lemme get some pictures of the kid
Keisha: why? So you can pretend for the gram? There you go being a social media dad again..

An updated version for puppy love. When you fall in love with someone's profile, chats and posts but you've never actually met them in person.
Chad: I wish that Julia wouldn't like so many guys pics cause she knows I love her and she loves me too!
Brad: Dude, you've never met her in person! You're too deep in social media love to think clearly.

Generally some no-talent dickbag who slummed their way into social media without any knowledge of how to use it for anything other than gaining followers for themselves, attending events, and generally whoring themselves out, because they're 22 and don't know how to business.

"Hi serious client, I'd like to introduce you to our social media guru!"
"Wow, way to throw their credibility directly out the door! I can't wait to work with them!"
