Diabolique masterpiece

Something that is grotesque, so you don’t want to give it too much credit, but upon further reflection you realize it’s a wonderful creation, even though it is quite terrible.

Looking upon a gross, giant, dead scorpion and seeing the detail of the outer shell, I realized it was a diabolique masterpiece.
