Troy Thompson is an elected Mayor for the city of Townsville, North Queensland, Australia. Troy won the Townsville Mayoral Election in March 2024 on the back of misinformation and lies he promoted about himself. Troy claimed to have served his country in the Army for 5 years when it was actually less than 3 years as a reservist. He claimed to be part of the Special Forces (SAS) but was only ever a cook. He advertised several university degrees but admitted to never actually completing those degrees.
