The act of developing software whereby everyone flings themselves collectively and dangerously down a hill at breakneck speed in pursuit of a common, unattainable goal with dubious value.

Dave: Yes, but if we create a single factory that returns an abstraction of those functions then we can replace their use with a simple, single call. It'll only take me a few weeks to implement and rewrite all the unit tests to use it.
Bob: Yeah that sounds amazing! Nice and clean.

cheese strategy 

noun. Gaming. A strategy that seeks to provide means for overcoming a challenge (e.g. a boss fight) not by engaging with the challenge itself but rather by bypassing it altogether. It is oftentimes exploitative of a game's mechanics, taking advantage of oversights in game balance made by the developers to easily deal with an obstacle.

Cheese strategies trivialize challenging content, by either speeding the process up immensely to eliminate the challenge or by making it nigh impossible to fail (e.g. through creating means to infinitely heal oneself). One could distinguish between "fast cheese" and "slow cheese".

Not to be confused with glitch exploits. Cheese strategies always work within the bounds of the game.

A: Hey, I just can't beat this boss, this one move just kills me every time.
B: Oh yeah, I struggled with him too. But there's this cheese strategy using this set of armor and a combination of potions that makes you pretty much invincible so I managed to get past him.

cheese plug 

This term refers to the part of one's bowel movement that has been transformed inside the guts from cheese into a harder-than-usual portion of doo-doo. One might be in the ecstatic throes of a smooth dookie session, only to have the brown train interrupted by a cheese plug. One antidote to the cheese plug is binge drinking.

Say man, why do you scarf handfuls of mozzarella every time we make pizza? Nahmean like, how you gonna deal with the cheese plug?

Not to worry, I'll be taking 30 dextromethorphan hydrobromide cough gels immediately after dinner. The resulting shits delivered by those things will blow out any cheese plug.
