In the musical context, this often involves producers or artists themselves wrapping together multiple different engineering technologies needed. If there are sounds that must be added later in production, multiple systems are needed. This skill becomes important.
During the completion of their "News of the World" album Queen band members relied heavily on their producer to wrap together the many devices needed to create the unique sound they wanted.

The protective plastic film found on appliances and other products when they are new. Older people leave it on the item to "preserve" the product. Serves no real purpose and ends up making the dials on microwaves, stovetops, etc. difficult to read over time.
"John, why does your granny leave the plastic film on the stove screen?"
"Ah yes, don't mind her. She always leaves on the boomer wrap."
