A 'snitch' is someone minding other folks' business. To find information they can sell for a price or trade for some other form of compensation.

The difference is, at least a snitch is human, but a rat is a fuckin' rat, period.

The Dude at school that we all hated who tells the teacher on something that is not their business so they can watch as the kid who did nothing wrong get in trouble for drawing on a notebook. Seriously, when you make a promise to the snitch they will betray you and tell the teacher.
