In programming slang, refering to the degree of quick fixes, limited-scope solutions, workarounds and inclusion of fragile code. Commonly used with negative connotations.

I hate Java. Every time I wanted to use such and such way of doing things, I ran into problems. Example: lack of unsigned arithmetic. Each "feature" required workarounds of the highest hackitude normally.

cowboy hack

When someone is changing or "hacking" established IT or some other processes without any formal knowledge of existing process. It is not just a "hack" is one of those: "let's see what happens if I press this red button" ! Term came up from watching western movies when the cowboys would come riding into the city and start shooting randomly without any true purpose.

Is this your cowboy hack or you actually read the documentation before changing this process?
