The idea that these characters who are all different, prioritize their dogs and treat them as their children. It's something that they all have in common, this brings them together. The dramatic acting, plot and the scenes, adds humor to the film. One example is when Gerry’s wife gets hurt and they are scared that their dog won't be able to walk
