3rd quarter

The quarter you have to get ready for/be ready for if you often have bad 3rd quarters in otherwise good games where you lose the game by less than a touchdown. Don't think the other team won't come back if you've played well so far in the game, you have to keep going to finish, otherwise you just start every game off good then assume it was the fumbles and mistakes that cost you the game, when really it was losing focus that cost you the game.
The Panthers really have to work on their 3rd quarter of every game if they're going to start finishing seasons and getting to the postseason.

3rd quarter

Not the only quarter not to lose focus. It does no good to start a quarter focused if you're not going to finish it focused, and vice versa. Even if you're a young team without the experience, stats, or weapons of an opponent, you can still get things done if don't lose your focus.
Improving in a 3rd quarter shouldn't take focus away from everything else you're already doing.

Case quarter

In the 1980’s in Essex county, Nj, I worked in a restaurant where the wait staff was predominantly white and the dish room was predominantly black. (I maintain I was the last white American man to work as a dishwasher!) whenever any of my coworkers wanted a quarter for change they would always ask for a “case quarter.” No explanation was asked for, none given. But it was fairly widespread urban slang at least in the mid eighties in northern nj.

Just now, I’m watching an old film on tcm, “flying down to Rio”, and one of the principle characters asked another for a “case quarter” again looking for a 25 cent piece for smaller change. No further context given.

Brings back wonderful memories, as well as a few questions!

No-Quarter Kid

An idiot. In reference to children that would walk up to an arcade cabinet and instead of asking their parents for a quarter to play, would just grab the joystick and mash the buttons and would think they are playing. This is because they are dumb and don’t know how anything works. Similar to anti-maskers and anti-vaxxers.
