The name comes from the scene in Fantastic Mr. Fox where George Clooney's character out of nowhere throws a fist pump in the air to a wolf and the gesture is reciprocated. The opposite of nuked the fridge or jumped the shark

Bad Lieutenant really fist pumped the wolf when Nic Cage started yelling at the imaginary iguanas.
