when you are in the middle of something, (eating, reading, texting, talking... but not limited to these things) and an text comes to your phone, you proceed to try and do both things, or completely stop everything to check the text.

Billy had to have jane repeat herself, he was textstracted while she was talking to him. He blamed it on bad cell reception.

Textspeak

The process of shortening words and adding numbers to a text message, to make it "cooler". This form of text messaging is highly annoying and can also be used to sell "trendy" products like 50cc scooters and mobile phones. Often involves leaving out all vowels.

Textsomnia

The inability to get a decent night's sleep because of one's self-imposed obligation to read and reply to every single late night text. This thus results in a long drawn out dialogue which probably would have only lasted about 5 minutes over the phone.

An ailment often experienced by people who feel so self-important that must respond immediately to every form of technological communication.

Boss: Why are you so lethargic and lackluster at the office today?

Employee: I'm suffering from textsomnia. I couldn't get a wink of sleep last night because my friend kept texting me about the most random stuff...like Moby Dick...and floggings...and the caloric count of coconuts.
