a SPORT in which a group of girls or GUYS make up routines of around 2 and a half mins. of jumping, stunting, tumbling, dancing and cheering. the routine itself consists of around 3 different stunts such as scorpions, arabasques, or front stretches usually combined with a single or double spin to end the stunt before being caught. tumbling consists of backhandsprings, tucks, layouts, fulls, and double fulls...all done in combinations of difficulty usually begun with a roundoff. dancing is a shorter part of the routine that consists of 8 counts ranging in speed from 1-2-3 to 1+2+3 in which a position or motion is hit on each count. the cheer can be anywhere from 2 to 16 lines (around there) in competitive cheerleading it is usually short and is yelled over the music. all this is combined into one 2 and a half minute routine. and each different area is given points usually ranging from 1-5 depending on the competition.
last years rotine consisted of stunt sequence, fulls, standing tucks, backhandsring back tucks, round off tucks, extra tumbling, cheer, stunt sequence, dance, stunt sequence, end. it was around 2 and 1/2 mins long and was practiced around 12 times in 2 hours to perfect it for competition.

Okay, cheerleading IS infact a sport. I would know!!! I hate the fact that people say that it isn't. cheerleaders start in july/ august and go until march. we have 3 seasons. it's completely biased at competitions. we work harder than any other team!!!!! And we ARE NOT anorexic. we can kick butt. if cheerleading was easy, they would call it football!

A Sport.
Most people say this is not a sport. It's because, they have never cheered before. A stereotype. Cheerleadin, Is in fact a sport. People say it's ful of sluts & air heads. If your a slut, & your coach heard about it, your off the team. If you have lower then an 80, your kicked off. You need to be smart, if your not & you go for your full down, you fuck it up & break something & can't do that ever again in your whole entire life. Or at least for a very long time. Other sports, people tackle you? Thats why its a sport? HA. If a 93 to 130 pound girl, yeah thats it falls on you something terrible can happen. If your not in shape for this you will not do this ( Just like any other sport) Every other sport has a whoel season to prove themselves, you know how long cheerleaders have ? 2 minutes & 30 seconds. If you over that what - so - ever. Your out & have the most upset dissapointed feeling, you have ever had. If you say this isnt a sport, you obviously have not done anything to it, at all.

A SPORT. I admit, cheerleading just for a football team is lame and no way a sport. But All Star competitive cheerleading IS a sport. All star cheerleaders work their ass off! We're expected to be flawless. And it does take strength to lift a person while smiling like you aren't tired. It also takes a crap load of practice to perfect a whole routine. A routine in which you spend hours getting told it is not good enough. It needs to be sharper, more energetic, it needs to be perfect. And then you're sweating like there is no tomorrow. And you have to twist your body in a way it should not be twisted! And you have to spend hours and hours of your day in the gym working on tumbling, which leaves you sore for weeks. So this IS a sport, you losers. You wouldn't last a freakin' minute on my team without wanting to run out crying 'cause it's too hard.

An elite sport which must have athletes capable of holding 100 pounds 15 feet up the air. You can not be afraid of heights, falling objects, and strict coaches. My oh my what a wonderful sport...Unless that is your literally Cheerleader (Cheerleading for the towns youth football team.) What an embarrassment.
Daughter: Mommy, can I join the cheerleadingteam?
Mom: which one. The one with the people throwing each other or embarrassing one?
Daughter: The one where you throw each other.
Mom: Phew!

An activity that can be as challenging or more challenging than most sports. A mix of aerobics, gymnastics, and dance. Takes alot of technique and muscele strength. When cheering for other sports, most people consider it an activity, but during competitions-it is 100% a sport. No cheerleader in a good program can have bad grades. Cheerleaders involved in any innapropriate behavior can be kicked off of thier team.
"Cheerleading isn't even a sport!"
"Then would you like to tell me why you don't come out of practice in sweat with bruises from catching and sore arms?"
